Composition and Posing

Posing any animal, especially shelter animals who are understandably a little stressed, can be a tricky task sometimes. You and your handler will have to be patient and learn how to get the animal to do what you want. Unlike people, you can't say stand here, look this way, tilt your head like this, and smile to an animal. Believe me, we've tried.

Instead, you must develop some techniques that can help you get what you want, improvise constantly, and hope for the best. One thing I do know is that by applying the following techniques and by demonstrating a lot of patience, we have always been able to at least an acceptable image of an animal and often times a very good one.
